Parents and Guardians,
We know that a lot of you miss being able to send your children to school right about now, and we want you to know that our School Resource Deputies miss seeing your children each day!
We would like to take advantage of social media to provide support with your child's e-learning reading requirements. You're invited to share a story time with Sheriff Potter each day at 3:00pm on the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
According to a study cited by PBS, kindergarten children who are read to at least three times a week had a "significantly greater phonemic awareness than children who were read to less often". So, plan to tune in at least three times a week on our agency Facebook page and enjoy some short stories for your children (and a little, well-deserved break for you)!

Stay Safe, DeSoto!
(Naturally, you'll want to facilitate and supervise your children's use of devices, as our agency also uses social media to inform the community of non-kid friendly activities that we also have to "take care of".)
