Major Chief Deputy
Major James Vitali
An Arcadia native, Major Vitali graduated from DeSoto County High School class of ’87. He is a veteran having served as an equipment operator in the U. S. Navy. Major Vitali began his career at the Sheriff’s Office in 1994 as a corrections officer. Transferring to law enforcement in 1995 he has worked as a road patrol deputy (1995-1997), civil deputy (1997-2002), road patrol sergeant (2002-2006), road patrol lieutenant (2006-2009), law enforcement captain (2009-2013) and currently serves as chief deputy.
With over 2000 hours of training through his career Major Vitali has held other collateral duties which include, SWAT Team Member, SWAT Team Leader, firearms instructor, armorer, and Dive Team of which he is still a member.
Major Vitali is an active member of the Arcadia Ronin Goju Karate school.
